The client had a nine-day quoting cycle. Sales walked away every time a competitor produced a number faster. The instinct was to add people. The right answer was to re-engineer the quoting model.
Mapping the actual system
Before we wrote a line of code, we mapped every hand-off, spreadsheet and approval in the existing process. The bottleneck was not what leadership assumed. It never is.
A configure-price-quote engine
We built a typed pricing engine, wired it to the product catalogue, and exposed it through a self-serve portal. Sales stopped chasing internal approvals for standard configurations. Approval workflows kicked in only where they actually added value.
The result
Nine days to four hours. But more importantly, the architecture is now something a new engineer can extend in an afternoon — instead of a system only three people in the company understood.
